November 21, 2021 – Pastor Appreciation Sunday

So today was Pastor Appreciation Sunday at World Hope, a little later than traditional,

but this has been anything but a traditional season for our church family.

We were treated to a delicious meal with the church family and given a stack of cards. Then I left and headed for the beach for the week, another tradition for our family. It was a beautiful day for a race to the coast! If you have traveled Highway 74 through eastern North Carolina you know what I am talking about.
Another tradition for Shari and I on Pastor Appreciation Day was to open and read our cards together, alternating opening and reading the cards and notes aloud, and sharing any gifts. I have to admit, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to open the cards, but I did, and read every message, mostly through tears; tears of grief as I miss Shari and tears of gratitude for the amazing church family God has privileged me to be a part of.

For my World Hope family, thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your pastor. Thank you for walking with me during this painful season, and thank you for the anticipation for the future God has in store for us. Thank you for each card and for the gracious and encouraging words and for the gifts. Thanks for the meal, and for the leftovers that came to the beach with me!!! I love and appreciate each of you!!!
