December 31, 2022 - Reflection and Anticipation

Many years ago a friend told me to always be about reflecting on what has been and anticipating what is ahead.

That comment has stayed with me through almost forty years of life and ministry.

As I end 2022 and start a new year, it comes with many emotions. As I reflect, look back on the challenges and blessings of 2022, I reflect on the lessons that I learned, the growth that took place in my life, mistakes I made, pain I experienced, I can can see God’s hand at work in my life, molding, making, breaking and forming me into the person He has called, purposed and destined me to be. I am not the same person I was on December 31, 2021.

As I anticipate what God has in store for me in 2023 my heart gets excited. I don’t know what this New Year holds but I know Who holds the year and He is directing my steps and He has the plan, not just a plan, but the best plan. My challenge is to trust, obey, learn to be content, and live each day with a heart of expectation and anticipation as God works His purposes to fulfill His plan in and through my life.

I celebrate God’s work in 2022, even when it hurt, but as the new year begins, I want to focus on what lies ahead. On December 31, 2023 I expect to see that I am not the same person I am today.

“I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I am doing. I have it all planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for” (Jeremiah 29:11; The Message)

Happy New Year!

May 2023 be a year filled with God’s presence, power, and grace for each of us.
