Rediscovering Hope

Rediscovering Hope The 23rd Psalm is the most famous P salm, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want...though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil because You are with me.” We will all walk through this valley at so me point in time, most of us more than once. We enjoy the mountain tops and endure the valleys. Without the valleys , there would be no mountains, and it is in the valleys that we learn the deepest lessons. It is in the valleys that we are strengthened and prepared for the mountains. We are never alone in the valley, even though we may feel alone.

The valley is not the destination, it is a pathway to our destination, one we must travel through. We are not intended to remain in the valley; the only way to the next mountaintop is through the valley. We are passing through, we don’t pitch a tent and camp out, or build a ho use there, we keep moving. It is in the moving that we discover renewed hope. In the valley , it may be hard to see the mountain tops because the view is obstructed. As we continue to move forward in our grief and through our grief we begin to catch glimpse s of new hope, hope for the future God has for us. It will look different than what we had dreamed of, but the Good Shepherd continues to lead us to the future He has for us.

In our walk - through grief, through the valley of the shadow of death, we often feel that there is no hope like we will never get out of this place, but we can and we will if we keep walking. There is hope for a future and a purpose. Recently someone shared with me Jeremiah 29:11 from The Message, I want to share it with you:

God says, “...I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out — plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”

Keep walking, keep moving through the valley and see God birth new hope, renewed hope into your heart and life. Old dreams will be resurrected, and new ones will be realized. Keep walking, the Lord, your Shepherd is with you, leading you through this difficult season. He will bring you through , just keep walking!

Many blessings, much love, and many prayers for each one walking through this valley.
